Save & Switch Between Brand Boards

⏱️ 5-7 min

If you run more than one brand, or work with more than one business, you can save as many Brand Boards as you need, and switch between them in seconds.

Compare

Brand Board One vs. Brand Board Two

Creating a second Brand Board follows the exact same steps as your first, add a Design Kit, name it, then fill in logos, colors, and typography.

The Full Setup

A full-color primary logo, a white logo for dark backgrounds, five labeled colors (Primary, Accent, Success, Text, Background), and a heading/body font pairing.

A Simple Second Example

A long (horizontal) logo plus a square logo, so you can see both shapes side by side. Colors can start as simple as gray and white, you can always come back and build out a full palette later using the same color and font pairing tools from the last lesson.

Every Brand Board you build shows up in the same list, so once you've got two (or ten), you'll want a way to tell them apart at a glance and switch between them.

The 3 dots

Managing Your Boards

Next to every Brand Board in your list, you'll find a three-dot menu with three options.

✏️

Edit

Opens the Brand Board back up so you can change logos, colors, or fonts, or set it as your default.

🧬

Clone

Makes a copy of an existing Brand Board, a fast way to start a new one that's close to something you already have.

🗑️

Delete

Removes a Brand Board you no longer need. Deleting one doesn't undo the styling already applied to pages or emails that used it, it just removes it from your pickers going forward.

2 steps

Switch Your Default Board

Only one Brand Board can be the default at a time, and the default is the one that shows up in your color and font pickers everywhere else in your software.

1

Open The Three Dots On The Board You Want

Select Edit, then look for Set As Default near the top right. (The board that's already your default won't show this option, since it's already set.)

2

Confirm It Switched

Head back to your Brand Boards list. The board you just chose now shows "Default" under its status, and the other one no longer does.

⚡ Tips

  • Switching your default only changes what shows up in pickers going forward, it doesn't touch pages, emails, or funnels you already built.
  • Give every Brand Board a clear, specific name (the business or brand it belongs to) so you're never guessing which one is which.
  • Cloning is the fastest way to start a new Brand Board that's close to one you already like, tweak from there instead of starting blank.
  • If you're managing boards for multiple clients or brands, get in the habit of double-checking your default before you start any new design work.

🏷️ Naming My Brand Boards So They Make Sense

You are a systems consultant helping me name my Brand Boards so anyone on my team can tell what each one is for at a glance. My context: - The businesses or brands I need Brand Boards for: [list them] - Who else, if anyone, will be working inside this account: [describe your team, or say it's just you] - How often I expect to add a new Brand Board going forward: [describe, for example rarely, or every time I take on a new client] Give me: - A clear, consistent naming pattern I can apply to every Brand Board I build - Renamed versions of the boards I listed, following that pattern - One board from my list that's the strongest candidate to set as my default right now Finish by asking me: "Want help deciding what order to build out the rest of these boards in?"

🧬 When To Clone Versus Start From Scratch

You are an efficiency consultant helping me decide, for each new Brand Board I need, whether to clone an existing one or start from scratch. My context: - The Brand Board(s) I already have set up: [describe what each one looks like] - The new brand(s) I need to set up next: [describe how similar or different they are from what I have] - How much of the new brand's look is already decided versus still undefined: [describe] Give me: - A clone-or-scratch recommendation for each new board I listed, with a one-sentence reason - If cloning, exactly what to change first after the clone (logo, colors, fonts, or all three) - One thing to double check on a cloned board before setting it live Finish by asking me: "Want me to draft the exact steps for cloning the first one on your list?"

Now, whether you're running one brand or several, you know exactly how to keep them organized, and exactly which one is live at any given moment.
