Key definitions

Terms worth knowing

A white-label mobile app built on your software's infrastructure that carries your business name, logo, and branding. Students download it from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store as if it were your own app.
A product built by one company but rebranded and distributed by another. Your students see your brand, not the software provider's name.
A paid Apple program that allows you to publish apps to the Apple App Store. You must enroll as an organization, not as an individual.
Google's developer platform for publishing apps to the Google Play Store. Also requires organization-level enrollment and a one-time $25 registration fee.
After your form is submitted, Apple and Google independently review and approve the app before it goes live. This drives the two-to-three week timeline, and it is outside your control.
"Before you make your payment, there are a few things you need to do. Get your Apple approved and your Google approved, then you're ready to move fast."
How it works

Finding It, the Process, and Why Timing Matters

Navigation path

In your software, go to Memberships in the left side menu, then select Communities. Look for Branded Mobile App and click on it. That is your starting point for the entire setup process. The app gives your students access to your communities, courses, and your entire portal, all under your brand name, on both iPhone and Android. If you have not set up your portal yet, do that first so there is something for students to access once the app is live.

Sign up, submit, wait, go live

Step 1, Sign Up and Pay: Click Get Started and make your payment, but only after your Apple and Google developer accounts are approved and ready.

Step 2, Fill Out the Form: Complete the full online form with your business details, developer credentials, branding assets, and app information.

Step 3, Wait for Approval: Apple and Google each conduct their own review. Allow two to three weeks from the date all data is submitted.

Step 4, Go Live: Once approved, your app is live in the App Store and Google Play, and you'll receive shareable links to send to your students.

The timeline is driven by Apple and Google

Your software submits your branded app to Apple and Google on your behalf. Once submitted, each one conducts its own review, and that process takes two to three weeks and cannot be rushed. If your developer accounts are not approved and verified before the form is submitted, production of your app can be delayed by up to 60 days. Getting your accounts ready first is the single most important thing you can do to move quickly. You'll receive an email confirmation from both Apple and Google when your accounts are verified, and you need both confirmations in hand before you submit your form.

Tips

Worth remembering

  • Set up your portal and explore it before purchasing the branded app, so you know what your students will experience.
  • Do not make your payment until your Apple developer account and Google Play Console account are both fully approved.
  • Both accounts must be enrolled as an organization, not as an individual. This is critical, and it's covered next.
  • The two-to-three week timeline begins after all form data is submitted and verified, so getting your developer accounts ready in advance is how you avoid delays.
  • Have all your images, credentials, and copy prepared before you open the form.

📋Build my prep checklist
You are helping me get ready to apply for a branded mobile app for my business, before I pay or fill out any forms. Here is my situation: - My business type: [describe it in 1-2 sentences] - Do I already have a live business website: [yes/no, and the URL if yes] - Do I already have Apple or Google developer accounts: [yes/no/not sure] Based on that, give me a short prep checklist of everything I should get ready before I start the developer account setup, in the order I should do it. Finish by asking me which item on the checklist I want to tackle first.
💬Explain the timeline to my team
You are helping me write a short, plain-language message to my team explaining why our branded mobile app will take two to three weeks to go live after we submit. Include: - Why the timeline is controlled by Apple and Google, not by us - Why getting our developer accounts approved first avoids delays of up to 60 days - A simple next step for the team while we wait Keep it to one short paragraph, friendly but clear.
