Find the Custom Values page, read the list, and know what every button and menu on it does.
Tour the page
Four things to know on the page
Click Search at the top of your screen and type Custom Values, then open it. Here is what you will see.
One row per value
Each row is one custom value. You see its name and the value it holds, which is the actual words or link that gets inserted.
The name is the label you pick from later
The value is the text your customers see
The short code that points to a value
A merge field key is a short code in curly braces. When a message goes out, your software swaps the code for the real words.
You almost never type it by hand
Look for it next to each value or in the picker
Find things fast
Use the search box above the list and type part of a name to narrow it down. Folders are labeled drawers that keep a long list tidy.
Search works on part of a name
Group related values in one folder
Add, edit, delete
The blue + Add Custom Value button creates a new one. The three dots on a row open Edit Custom Value and Delete Custom Value.
Edit changes the words
Delete removes the value, so check first

⚡ Tips
Use Custom Values for things that are the same for every customer.
Click the three dots on a row to see Edit Custom Value and Delete Custom Value.
Deleting a value that is still in use leaves blank spots in emails, texts, and pages.
You can also find it in your menu, but menus can be renamed, so search is the sure way.
