Build a custom value with a name and a value, then edit it and delete one safely.
Step by step
Build your first custom value
Here is the whole trip, from Search to a saved value.
1
Open the page
Click Search at the top of your screen and type Custom Values, then open it.
2
Click Add
Click the blue + Add Custom Value button. A small form opens.
3
Type a Name
Use a plain label you will understand in two seconds, like Booking Link. This is what you see in lists and pickers.
4
Add the Value
Paste or type the actual text that gets inserted, such as your booking page link, a phone number, or a promo line.
5
Pick a folder if offered
If you see a folder choice, pick one. If you have no folders yet, skip it.
6
Save
Click Save. Your new value shows up in the list with its merge field key.
Change it later
Edit and delete
The three dots on a row are where the magic happens.
Change once, update everywhere
Click the three dots, choose Edit Custom Value, change the Value box, and save. Everything that uses it now shows the new words.
You do not open any email or page
The name and key stay the same
Use it for retired values
Delete Custom Value removes it for good. Anything still pointing to it will show a blank spot afterward.
Check where it is used first
Never test delete on a value you need

- Names that stay easy to read in a picker list
Keep names under four words.
Finish by asking me: "Do any of these names feel confusing to you?"

My context:

- Places to look for where a value is used
- A safer plan if I am not sure
Use plain words and short bullets.
