Create Your Brand Voice for AI Content

⏱️ 7-9 min

Your Design Kit handles how your brand looks. Brand Voice handles how your brand sounds, especially once AI starts writing content for you.

4 parts

What's Inside A Brand Voice

A Brand Voice is a communication guide: your business information, your brand values, your tone and style, and your intended calls to action, all in one place, so your messaging stays consistent everywhere it shows up.

🏢

Business Information

Your brand name, website, business type, location, and contact details, business hours, phone, email, and address.

🗣️

Brand Values

The key principles that define your brand's identity, and what makes your brand better than your competitors.

🎭

Tone & Style

How your brand sounds: professional, friendly, trustworthy, confident, engaging, empathetic, innovative, or whatever fits.

📣

Calls To Action

What you want your audience to do, book an appointment, sign up, call, or message, so your AI-generated content asks for it the right way.

Why bother

Why Set Up A Brand Voice

Three reasons this is worth the ten minutes it takes to fill out.

🧩

Customization

Tailors the platform to reflect your brand's unique voice, not a generic one.

🤖

AI Integration

Equips Content AI with your brand's communication style, so generated content sounds more accurate and personal, not like a stranger wrote it.

✅

Consistency

Maintains a uniform tone across every piece of communication, which builds brand recognition and trust over time.

3 ways

Create Your Brand Voice

You'll find this under Settings, then Brand Boards, then Brand Voice. From there, pick whichever method fits.

Fill Out Every Field Yourself

The most thorough option. You'll answer: what's your brand name, website, business type, location, and contact info, your tone (professional, friendly, trustworthy, confident, engaging, empathetic, innovative), your target audience and their pain points, your brand promise and values, what makes you better than competitors (your unique selling proposition), what happens if your audience doesn't take action, and your main call to action.

Paste In A Website URL

Point it at your own website (or a competitor's, for inspiration) and it auto-fills your brand name, business type, contact details it can find, and a first pass at your tone and personality. Fastest option if your website already reflects how you want to sound. Every field it fills in stays fully editable afterward.

Describe It In Your Own Words

Write a short description of your brand's personality, audience, or style (about 50 to 100 words) and let it build a starting profile from that description. Good middle ground if you don't have a strong website yet but already know how you want to sound.

2 steps

Use It With Content AI

Once it's saved, your Brand Voice becomes a toggle anywhere Content AI shows up.

1

Open Content AI

Wherever you're writing, an email, for example, look to the top right for the Content AI tool and select Generate With AI.

2

Toggle On Your Brand Voice

Flip the switch to use your Brand Voice, and the AI generates or fixes your content based on the tone, values, and details you set up. Consistent, on-brand content, without having to explain your business every time.

⚡ Tips

  • You can save more than one Brand Voice, useful if you speak differently to different audiences or run more than one brand.
  • Every field an import or description auto-fills stays fully editable, review it and make it sound like you before saving.
  • If you use the website URL method, point it at a page with real substance, an About page or homepage works better than a thin contact page.
  • As AI becomes a bigger part of how you create content, your Brand Voice matters just as much as your Design Kit for staying consistent.

🗣️ Drafting My Brand Voice Profile

You are a brand messaging consultant helping me draft a complete Brand Voice profile I can paste into my software's Brand Voice setup. My context: - My business name, type, and location: [describe briefly] - Who my target audience is and their biggest pain point: [describe] - What makes my business better than my competitors: [describe] - The tone I want (for example professional, friendly, trustworthy, confident, engaging, empathetic, innovative): [pick 1-2] - My main call to action: [for example book an appointment, sign up, call us] Give me: - A one-paragraph brand promise and values statement - A short description of what happens if my audience doesn't take action (my risk of inaction) - A finished draft I can paste directly into each Brand Voice field Finish by asking me: "Want me to also write three sample social captions in this exact voice, so you can see how it sounds in practice?"

🎭 Is My Tone Actually Consistent

You are a tone-of-voice editor helping me check whether my current messaging actually matches the brand voice I want to have. My context: - The tone I want my brand to have: [describe, for example warm but no-nonsense] - A piece of content I've already written (an email, a post, a website line): [paste it in] - Anywhere I suspect my tone is inconsistent: [describe, or say "not sure, that's what I want you to check"] Give me: - Whether the pasted content matches my intended tone, and specifically where it drifts if it does - A rewritten version in my intended tone - One rule of thumb I can apply myself next time, before I even need AI to check it Finish by asking me: "Want me to rewrite one more example in this same tone, so you have a second reference point?"

Your brand board shapes the way people see your value, and now your brand voice makes sure every word matches it too. When your brand looks and sounds like it knows what it's doing, customers are happy to pay more, because they already trust you.
