Create & Set Up A New Gift Card Product

⏱️ 7-9 min

This is the part that brings your gift card to life. Let's set up your first one from start to finish, and once you do, you'll want to make more.

6 steps

Set Up Your First Gift Card, Start To Finish

Once you set one up, you're going to want to make more. Here's the order it happens in.

1

Connect A Payment Integration First

Before you build your gift card, go to Payments, then Integrations. Select a payment provider (Stripe, PayPal, NMI, Authorize.net, Square, or search for more), select Connect, and follow the prompts.

2

Select Create Gift Card

From Payments β†’ Gift Cards, select the button to create a new gift card. It walks you through an easy, guided process from here.

3

Enter Your Basic Information

Give it a name (a loyalty card, a holiday promo, or a standard company gift card all work). Add an expiration date if you want one, or leave it blank so it never expires. Choose whether to include a redemption link, great for directing someone to a signup page or funnel, or select "no link" for a general gift card. Add your terms and conditions, either typed out or linked to a URL.

4

Choose Your Artwork

Pick one of three options: build a gradient card and choose your colors and direction, use one of the provided pre-designed templates you can brand to your business, or upload your own custom image. You can also save any of these as a template to reuse later.

5

Set Your Denominations, Tax & Category

Add one or more price points, for example $25, $50, $75, and $100. Set an optional quantity limit per denomination, and decide whether to allow sales after stock runs out. Turn on automatic tax calculation if you want tax applied at checkout, and assign a category to keep things organized.

6

Review & Create

Check the preview: the card art, the denomination, the gift card code, the QR code, your terms, and the expiration date. When it all looks right, select Create Gift Card and it's live.

Worth knowing

A Few Things About Denominations

Quantity limits apply separately to each denomination you add, not to the gift card product as a whole.

πŸ”’

It's Per Denomination, Not Per Product

Set a quantity of 100 and you'll have up to 100 available at each price point you created. Four denominations with a limit of 100 each means up to 400 gift cards total, not 100 combined.

♾️

Leave It Blank For Unlimited

If you don't want to cap how many sell, just leave the quantity field blank.

πŸƒ

Allow Sales After Stock Runs Out

Running a promotion and emailing your whole list? Turn this on so sales don't stop mid-campaign. Leave it off if you want a hard stop once you hit your limit.

⚑ Tips

  • Set up your payment integration first. Skipping this step is the most common reason a gift card won't be ready to sell.
  • Most businesses leave the expiration date blank, but adding one can encourage faster redemptions if that fits your goals.
  • Save a gradient or template you like so you're not rebuilding your artwork from scratch next time.
  • You can always come back and edit the card later, nothing here is permanent.
